Annual Training Product Development Plan
Training Product Methodology

Training products were updated to align with changes in international standards for non-destructive testing (NDT).

Eighteen units were updated and 5 new ones developed. Major changes have been made to the Diploma of Engineering – Non-Destructive Testing and other qualifications have had minor changes.

Project guidance was provided by a technical committee with industry and educational expertise. Stakeholders representing unions, employers, professional organisations, RTOs, and Commonwealth, state and territory governments support the changes.

Release draft products for broad stakeholder feedback in line with Consultation Strategy.

Public and government consultation was open for MEM: NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING SKILLS from 03 June until 28 June.

In consultation with stakeholders, 18 units of competency for NDT that are used extensively across trade, post-trade, and technician occupations have been revised to better match occupational roles and where required reflect new ISO Standards. Additionally, 5 new units have been developed to align and support certification requirements for NDT technicians reflected in the Non-destructive testing – NDT training syllabuses (ISO/TS 25107:2019).

The proposed changes have been informed by extensive research, analysis, and consultation.

Feedback was sought on the suitability of the draft content to ensure it is accurate and relevant and meets the needs of industry.

The draft training products have been submitted to Senior Responsible Officers – senior officials in each state and territory and from the Commonwealth – who have reviewed the proposed training products to ensure any implementation issues identified during the consultation period have been resolved in each jurisdiction.
